Jenny Ha I had an amazing experience at Rice Queen! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel completely welcome. The staff were hands down some of the most lively, genuine, and caring I’ve ever encountered at any restaurant. One male staff member in particular stood out, he gave us fantastic recommendations and took the time to walk us through the menu in full detail. His knowledge, patience (especially with our indecisiveness!), and warm attitude really made an impression. You could tell he genuinely cared about ensuring we had a great experience. The food was just as impressive.The kingfish was easily one of the best I’ve had, with colourful and thoughtful plating. The dumplings had a great texture with a shallot garnish on top. The curry was insane rich, flavourful, and the meat was cooked exactly like Vietnamese bò kho, which I’ve never experienced in a curry before, and the flaky, cloud-like roti was the perfect match for the curry. For drinks, we had the Yuzu Pie and Yuzu Colada, both mocktails were delicious and surprisingly unique, even for someone who doesn’t usually enjoy them. I can’t recommend Rice Queen enough, not just for the food, but for the exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere and aesthetic. I’ll definitely be back!

Amilliah Amarillo is a true gem tucked away on Brunswick Street. From the moment you walk in, the warm and relaxed ambiance sets the tone for a memorable evening. The lighting is soft, the music is thoughtfully chosen, and the whole place feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. The food is absolutely delicious. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was well-balanced, creative, and full of flavour. The menu changes regularly, but everything we tried was fresh, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. It’s the kind of spot where you want to order one of everything just to see what else the kitchen can surprise you with. We also happened to catch happy hour, which was a lovely bonus — great value on cocktails and fresh oysters until 7pm. The service was friendly and attentive, with staff who really know the menu and are happy to guide you through it. If youre after an intimate and stylish spot in Fitzroy with top-notch food and wine, Amarillo is hard to beat. Highly recommend for date night, a quiet catch-up, or just a treat-yourself evening out.

Sara celis Everything tasted fresh, authentic and full of soul. If you’re craving real Mexican flavors in Melbourne, this place is a must. I ordered the Chimichurri Chicken Burrito and the Al Pastor Burrito – both were packed with juicy, well-seasoned meat, fresh herbs, sweet corn, onion, and perfectly toasted tortillas. The chimichurri adds a fresh, herby twist, while the al pastor has that classic smoky-sweet, slightly spicy flavor that’s so comforting. To drink, I had a horchata drink with cinnamon and a sugared rim – lightly sweet, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The only downside was that it had a bit too much ice, so it felt like there was more ice than drink.

Maggzy1805 Bistro Sousou was on my list of restaurants to try for a while and I finally tried it tonight. It did not disappoint. My friend and I were blown away by the quality of the service, food and atmosphere. It was perfect. For entrée we ordered the soup à l’oignon. It was delicious and such a generous portion. For main my friend ordered the steak frites and I ordered the bavette. We were so pleased with the medium-rare cook on the steaks, the quality of the beef and seasoned perfectly. For dessert my friend had the creme brûlée and I had the tarte tatin. Both were equally delicious and not overly sweet. We will definitely be back at Bistro Sousou and will recommend to friends and family.

Andrew N Excellent food and a great beverage list. Staff on for lunch late Thursday 27/11 were extremely helpful finding us a table and assisting with working our dietaries with their matrix. (Lady) head chef on was lovely to us too!

Jepz Lim Their Kogashi Ramen is a must-try! This charred-style ramen is crafted by heating lard at a high temperature before adding miso paste and chicken stock—simply delicious. I ordered it as a set meal, which included an onigiri of my choice and dessert. Service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. Do make a reservation, as the place fills up quickly, especially at lunchtime.

Christina Angelica I hosted my ‘Miami Vice’ themed 30th birthday at Evies and it was incredible. They were so accommodating and did whatever they could to make sure the night was perfect. The staff went above and beyond, the service was seamless, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience - highly recommend for any special occasion!

marcella iwawo I love the new management! Foods are delicious! I have tried several pastas, I can’t even choose my favorite. The calamari is not the frozen one, I really can tell. They dip it with crumbs and fry it by order. The maple tofu is unique as it comes with sunflower seeds. The prawns are sweet and crunchy! The pasta is al dente all the time. I saw patrons finish their plate till the very last lick.

Brodie Percy We had our wedding (both ceremony and reception) at Panama dining room and I cannot fault them. The whole experience was excellent. From our first dinner here, we were blown away by the delicious food. It’s Melbourne fine dining. Having the ceremony here meant we didn’t have to worry about the weather and there’s so many beautiful locations nearby for photos. Our guests loved that the venue is licenced until 1am because they got to make the most of the dance floor. The staff were amazing and everyone complimented how the waiters kept checking if your drink needed a refill. Our wedding coordinator was happy to answer all my questions in the lead up and helped with setting up our decorations on the day which saved me the stress. Overall it was a fantastic night and I would highly recommend to other couples.
