Capricornian Restaurant - VIC

Jane Lawrence Was looking for somewhere to have dinner during our 2 night stay in Emerald, and wasn’t disappointed that I picked Capricornia. I had the duck breast salad for entree and then the Portuguese Lamb for main course. I thoroughly enjoyed both courses. The staff were friendly and polite and I would be happy to recommend this restaurant to others.

Mad Raven Hot Stone Pizza - VIC

Daniel By far one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Staff were friendly, service was quick. We got the Marghereater and the Mad Spanian, both delicious. Would highly recommend anyone to try even if you’re not from the local area.

CHAE - VIC

Vi Dang We finally got a booking at Chae (after what felt like forever trying the lottery) and when a last-minute Friday spot opened up at the end of August, we said cancel whatever plans you had. Set in Chae’s own kitchen in Cockatoo, the dining experience feels incredibly personal and wholesome. There’s this quiet rhythm in how she moves around the space, preparing and plating each dish with care. It’s homely but so refined at the same time. The food leans into comforting Korean dishes elevated by her in-house ingredients, everything from the sesame oil to the soy sauce and pastes are fermented and made by Chae herself. You can really taste that depth in the simplicity of her flavours in majority of courses. We ended on her glutinous donut and it was just unreal, what a highlight. It’s an intimate and thoughtful dining experience that feels unlike anywhere else in Melbourne. The price point of $140 is so reasonable given a drinks pairing is included. So glad we finally ticked this one off our list!

CAFE BEANS N SPICE - VIC

Hollie Alexis Really enjoy the food it’s really good. The only thing I would comment on is the portion sizes for the curry’s there could be more meat in them and when dinning in the alcohol drinks could have more alcohol in them.

Olinda Tea House & Restaurant - VIC

Chasing Pastry A lovely spot for High Tea. We did the garden option and think the extra cost is 100% worth it for the private gazebo amongst the beautiful gardens. The setting is so tranquil and it’s so different from the other high teas you can do elsewhere in Melbourne. The food was beautifully presented and everything tasted as good as it looked. The amount of food received was generous and we actually had to take our second scones home as we were so full. The drink selection is also lovely with a good range of hot and iced, traditional and unique options. The homemade scones were excellent with a crunchy exterior and light, fluffy inside. The staff were also all incredibly friendly and regularly checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. Being able to walk around the gardens and visit the cute alpacas was also a bonus, as is the tea house’s proximity to other Dandenong Ranges attractions making it an ideal spot for a leisurely day out. This is one I’ll definitely be coming back to sooner rather than later and would highly recommend to anyone looking to do high tea or enjoy the beauty of the Dandenong Ranges in a different way.
