5 /5 Hao Wen Yap: Had an amazing experience at Code Black Brunswick. I decided to try one of their more premium options — a Gesha coffee — which was definitely on the pricey side, but honestly, it was absolutely worth it.
Huge shoutout to Jade, who highly recommended it and took the time to explain the value behind the cup and why Gesha commands that price point — from the rarity of the beans, the meticulous growing conditions, to the careful processing and roasting. It really made me appreciate what I was paying for, not just drinking coffee but experiencing something special.
The coffee was then prepared by Stan, the head barista, and the execution was flawless. He brought it to absolute perfection. The cup had incredibly clean, delicate notes — like a pineapple and lemon floral tea, with bright acidity, a silky mouthfeel, and a lingering, elegant finish. The clarity and complexity were unreal, easily one of the best coffees I’ve had.
On top of that, everyone at the store had such a warm smile and welcoming energy, which made the whole experience even better. It genuinely felt like a place that cares about both coffee and people.
It was a shame I couldn’t stay longer than I did — I could’ve easily spent hours there. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to, especially for those special cups you don’t get every day.
