1 /5 zeroanarchy: I honestly do not know where to start. My partner and I rarely go out for breakfast, so yesterday was meant to be a bit of a treat. I thought heading to Commonfolk, away from the hustle of Mornington, would be a great choice.
The first thing I noticed was the updated menu. I assumed this would be an improvement from the old breakfast bun days. Unfortunately, I could not have been more wrong.
The menu feels overly complicated, filled with fancy sounding ingredients that seem unnecessary and more about appearance than enjoyment.
The breakfast itself was a disaster. The bacon looked like leather from an old boot shop, completely tasteless and barely edible. The expensive sourdough was so overcooked the crust was almost impossible to cut (bring a chainsaw, the knife they provide is useless). The eggs were burnt, and to top it off, the teapot for the English Breakfast tea was so poorly designed that it poured tea onto the table instead of into the cup.
For a $30 meal, I walked away still hungry and thoroughly unimpressed. The only thing preventing this from being a one star review was the coffee, which was genuinely good.
