The service was unfortunately very poor. To be fair, the staff seemed quite young and probably local kids or family, but that doesn’t change the experience. We asked for water four times and didn’t receive it. They told us they would bring some and come back to us next, but it was another 32 minutes before anything appeared.
They also ran out of Carlton Draught and then tried to serve us warm beer instead, which we understandably refused – but it was still added to the bill. The only remaining options were non-draft, fruity beers, which really isn’t what we were after.
On the positive side, the food itself was fine. The ragu was okay, and the other tables seemed to enjoy most of their barramundi (the special). Out of three steaks, two were cooked nicely and one was overcooked. With only four main courses and one special on the menu, you’d expect a little more consistency and polish.
The reason this is a two-star review rather than three is simple: it’s around $90 per person. At that price point, you expect much better service, properly chilled beer, and food that feels more aligned with the cost. If the service had been attentive and the drinks situation handled properly, this might have been a three-star experience. As it stands, it just didn’t justify the price.
