The food was better than some we have had in Italy, it was just amazing although left full I still wanted more, portion sizes were perfect, just delicious, chefs kiss. Very friendly service felt real family vibes, can’t wait to come back and recommend to all our friends and family.

5 /5 Cameron Jones: Exceptional Italian Food! Donnini’s stands out among the crowd of the throng of Italian restaurants on Lyon st. We have tried a few Italian restaurants in Carlton only to feel disappointed by the quality or flavours like it was missing something. Go to all the popular places that are over crowded or waiting in line just to walk out thinking it was average. Donnini’s yes can be on the little more costly side. But it was worth every cent. From the moment you walk in, the service staff are friendly and bubbly and happy to help you right away or even a chat. Then there is the food, it felt like it only took just a few minutes to get our food. Wow it was mind blowing! My wife got the homemade artichoke ravioli in a butter sauce, was like eating velvet. Baratina was mouth watering and so tasty. I had the carbonara and having a traditional style with no cream, tasted super creamy. My wife enjoyed her food so much she cried on how delicious it was, reminded her of her family’s food bringing back good memories.

5 /5 David Kellam: Under-rated gem. Consistently excellent pasta. Quiet ambiance. Top notch service. It should be packed every service, but isn’t for no good reason. But this is an advantage if you go / you get calm serenity on Lygon as opposed to hustle and bustle. Proper old school but high class Italian (not cheap and cheerful like so many nearby). Far better value than everything else around it - premium wuality for typical Lygon prices. Open late too - kitchen usually open til 9, restaurant until 10. The calamari Is the best I’ve ever had. Proper pan-fried, no batter. Delicious.
