5 /5 Shin Ruru: What can I say about this café other than that it completely won us over! We were in Rye for a three-day getaway and ended up coming here every single day for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
I highly recommend the toasted brisket sandwich - the brisket is smoked right out the front, and everything is homemade, even the multigrain bread, which turns beautifully crisp when toasted. The Big Breakfast is also a winner, and the Banberry Smoothie is the perfect refreshing choice. The coffee and chai are honestly the best we’ve ever had.
I didn’t even get a chance to take any photos because the food came out quickly, and we ate it even faster. We were so completely absorbed in the flavours that we didn’t talk until every bite was gone. The homemade cakes are also incredible. I tried the carrot cake and the passionfruit cheesecake, and both were absolutely delicious.
We actually found this café by pure luck after catching the smell of something amazing from the outdoor smoker as we drove past. It turned out to be one of the best discoveries of our trip.
The owner is such a lovely, down-to-earth person and great to chat with. The staff are equally warm and welcoming, which really made the whole experience even better.
There’s also a wonderful space at the back of the café where local artists display their artwork and vintage collectibles. It’s a lovely area to wander through while waiting for your food.
There’s plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and the whole place has such a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Flock Café is an absolute gem, and we can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Rye.
