Jade Pavillion Chinese Restaurant - VIC

Joe De Martino First time back at Jade Pavilion in Ferntree Gully since the start of the COVID pandemic. Heard about the new ownership and we were keen in trying it out. We ordered the Jade Seafood Combination in Birds Nest and Chicken in Honey Pepper Sauce and both were delicious. Good size portions as well. Will certainly be trying them again soon.

Ferntree Thai Restaurant - VIC

Joshua Templeman Had a fantastic experience at Ferntree Gully Thai. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, clearly made with fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. You can really tell care goes into the cooking. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself was clean, well maintained, and had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that made it comfortable to sit and enjoy the meal. Overall, it’s a great local Thai restaurant that delivers on both quality food and genuine service. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Mountain Gate Indian and Nepalese Restaurant - VIC

Gazza41 1st time eating at Mountain Gate Indian and Nepalese Restraunt. Well the service was brilliant the wait staff were friendly and answered all our questions. We had the Indian Banquet and the food was delicious!!!! The Indian set menu was out of this world!!!!! From the starters of Rapid Chutney, Samosa, Chicken Takka, and Lamb Chops, to the Main fare of Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh, Mixed Vegatables, Basmati Rice and Nann Ritia was some of the most tasty food I have ever tasted. The portion sizes ensure you a certainty were not hungry when you leave. Then to finish off the night we had Mango Ice cream to clear the pallet and the option of tea or coffee ( which we declined as we couldnt eat or drink anything else) All for a very reasonable price, extremely good value for money!!! In Summary, couldnt recommend this restaurant any more if you are catching up with friends out out on a date you will not be disappointed. Garry

Tosaria Restaurant - VIC

Choc Pudding I was very impressed with everything. I didnt expect much, but the venue looks pretty nice, lots of tables outside near the trees, it would have been nice sitting outside. Inside is spacious, and you can see they have function room that looks pretty good too. Staff are nice. Their menu has Western and Asian dishes. I went with fried chicken Maryland with tofu and sambal and rice. It was very nice! Chicken was pretty big. Nice and crispy and tasty. Sambal was good amount of spicy for me. The chili chicken avo sandwich was nice too. Lychee lemonade was quite nice. Good value meals and tasty!

The 1000 Steps Cafe - VIC

Hormesis The place to be for a snack or grubs before or after and the nearest to the Kokoda walking track in lush forest. Coffees, teas, smoothies, sandwiches, burgers, sweets, omelettes, ice-creams... Lots seats in and outdoor. Peaceful area and beautiful view around. Staff are friendly.

Paddys Tavern Ferntree Gully - VIC

Johnny Danger Pretty cool little place out in the suburbs of ferntree gully. A little small with a few tables for dine in. Recommend to book a table if you want to sit inside. There is an outdoor area which can be pretty cold in winter (even with the heaters on) basically a pub with pub meals on the menu. Food was ok. My T-bone steak was over cooked but the rest of the meal was fine. Beers are beers and they also have other alcohol behind the bar. Pay as you go system with no tab. Friday night was when we went and there was a live band playing Aussie rock tunes. Got a little bogan-ish towards the end of the night but what do you expect from an irish pub. Staff were pretty laid back. Customers seemed like locals from the area. I’d come back for a few drinks but I won’t order the steak again. Chips were good, mash was good and the fish n chips were fish n chips.

Merlot Chinese Restaurant - VIC

UniversallyStupid (ATTENTION ALL.) Ive been going to Loi eng basically all my life and Im in my 30s, other family members even longer. The food over all was great, specially when you could eat in. Like most Would agree the best lunch item ( though its also counted as a dinner item.) Was the dimsims and big spring roll. The lovely owners from what I remember live no where near ftg travelling up to an hour to work and give us those dishes. Sadly near the time of them selling the prices jumped up littpe by little due to cost of living and the staff got smaller. Thankfully the new owner as kept the same recipe for both but has sadly gone in the wrong direction with them. 1st with the dims sims, there size has gotten smaller yet the price has jumped up to $3 each( which is still cheaper the melbourne dimsims sold at servos or charcoal chickens.). The flavour isnt the original but its close atleast. 2nd the Spring roll... Ive gotten the "new" version 3 times now, the 1st time I was sceptical due to the half the size vanishing but still had length, the inside basically tasted the same which I was happy about but the oil... you can tell theyve changed oil to either something different or it needs a clean. The next 2 times I picked it up and it just bends, and the taste of the outside was rubbery and the oil taste was not pleasant. Can definitely say going from the original size at $7 to the same length half the size bad oil version at $10 its not very appealing. Dont get me wrong I wish the new owner best of luck going forward, but they needs more staff working, and needs to get the dinning area up and running once the staff and cooking get under control. Sadly everytime Ive been in there theres only 1 person running around, and no one else though sometimes youll see 2 people. My Advice to the owner is what I said above, get more staff, fix food and communication, and hopefully open up dinning area. If you keep at the currant pace I sadly dont see the store lasting.

Sideshow Burgers Ferntree Gully - VIC

Michael Johnson The burger was pretty good, decent patty, the bun was soft and wasn’t soggy! The waffle fries were crispy and had great flavour, the Mac n cheese croquettes were a little underwhelming but still tasty!!! Definitely coming back to try a different burger
