3 /5 Jon: “Staff here were genuinely lovely — friendly service makes a big difference. The flake was tasty, and I really appreciated getting real calamari instead of the rubbery ring imposters you see elsewhere. Hotdog in batter was a winner. South Melbourne dim sim had good flavour but could’ve stayed in the fryer just a little longer, and a heavy hand with the salt made both the chips and dim sim a bit too much. Potato cakes didn’t quite hit that crispy crunch I was hoping for. Biggest disappointment was the jam donut — we ordered a hot battered one (the thing we were most excited about) but ended up with a cold, non-battered version.
For almost $70, I was hoping for a bit more consistency. Still, not a bad stop when you’re out and about. A few tweaks — less salt, crispier spuds, and that jam donut done right — and it’d be a great little fish & chip spot.”
