4 /5 Vy: Dined at La Vetta with a group of 14 for lunch on a busy Saturday. Having a large group meant that we all had to do the Chef’s Journey tasting menu (about 8 courses - 4 plates per meal shared). Beautiful venue with great hill views, lively atmosphere, and very attentive service despite how busy it was (very popular for bridal events).
The food used very fresh, high-quality ingredients, but some dishes had flavour balance issues. The oysters were fresh, the kingfish clean and well prepared, and the salmon tartare cone was a standout. The salad ingredients, especially the tomatoes, tasted locally grown and naturally sweet. The prawn pasta was tasty with al dente pasta, though the sauce was slightly salty and could have been much creamier.
The anchovies were overwhelmingly salty with nothing to cut through the salt, and the Wagyu was inconsistently cooked and a bit chewy. Desserts were mixed — the first ice cream with popping pieces was fun and refreshing, but the strawberry sponge dessert tasted artificial.
Good wine list (excellent Shiraz, lighter Sangiovese). Overall, worth visiting for the views and atmosphere if you’re in the area.
