Manhattan Hotel - VIC

sheila spencer We had a lovely dinner at the Manhattan Hotel the buffet food was yummy. We got there about 5.30 p.m. the lady behind the bar was on her own and we were going to buy a beer & wine my husband went up to the bar and she ignored him, as she was serving a table, she could have said I will be with you in a moment sir. So we ended up having a bottle water with our meal. Apart from that all good.

Saravanaa Bhavan - VIC

Chamara Asanka I recently visited Saravana Bhavan in Wantirna for a weekday lunch and it was a bit of a mixed experience compared to my previous visits. Having dined here a few times before, I’ve always enjoyed the consistent quality of their South Indian vegetarian food. However, this particular trip stood out for two specific reasons. First, the service was incredibly fast. We were seated and served within minutes of ordering. Usually, there can be a bit of a wait during the lunch rush, but this time our Gobi Manchurian and Masala Dosas arrived at the table almost before we had finished our conversation. It was impressively efficient, which is perfect if youre on a lunch break. The food, as expected, was delicious and fresh. The second thing I couldnt help but notice was the absence of their robot server. If youve been to this location before, you might remember the cute robot that used to shuttle dishes to the tables, which was always a fun touch, especially for kids. It seems like they might have retired it or it was out of service that day. While it didnt take away from the taste of the food, it did make the atmosphere feel a little more "standard" than during my previous visits. The human staff were polite and handled the quick service well, but I did miss that little novelty. Overall, it’s still a solid spot for authentic Indian food in Wantirna. The quick service was a plus, even if the robot was MIA. Three of us had a satisfying meal without any delays. I’ll definitely be back for the food, though Ill be keeping an eye out to see if the little guy makes a comeback!

Mooju Sri Lankan Restaurant - VIC

Janani Rathnapala Had a great experience at Mooju recently! Brought a roast chicken kottu, and need to say that being a kottu lover, it did not give the usual taste, but somehow it was absolutely delicious, and probably the best kottu we have tasted yet in Melbourne. The staff were very friendly and supportive as well. Will definitely visit again!

Kebab Stop - VIC

Aanchal Tangri I checked out Kebab Stop in Vermont after seeing it all over social media, and I’m so glad I did! The chicken HSP is absolutely loaded – rich, flavorful, and super satisfying. The meat is well-seasoned and tender, the sauces are perfectly balanced, and every bite feels indulgent. Portion sizes are generous, and despite the buzz, the wait time was surprisingly short. Definitely lives up to the hype and a spot I’ll be coming back to for a proper HSP fix!

VIEWBANK Fish & Chips - VIC

Stuart Dalrymple Summer heat in the air and ceiling fans whirring overhead, I stared up at the old-school fish and chips menu. A couple of kids had their BMX bikes parked outside. A punter walked in with a mullet, barefooted. Old mate and his old dog stopped by the milk bar next door. Was met with a smile and prompt service, and took up a seat on the bench outside. Time has stood still in this little pocket of Viewbank; this could be the 80s or 90s, but its 2025 and the chicken-salted chips taste as good as they ever did. Do yourself a favour and drop into this absolute ripper of a chip shop. When I got home, imagine the smile on my face when they did the old classic and had thrown in a bonus potato cake. Places like this make you proud to be Australian. Five stars.
