MR MEXICAN - Food VIC

1 /5 Nilanka Gurusinghe: I had one of the worst Mexican dining experiences of my life at Mr. Mexican. I say this as someone who has visited Mexico and lived in Texas, where I experienced authentic Mexican culture and cuisine and truly fell in love with the food. We reserved a table for eight people, but when we arrived, the staff member on duty had not set up the table and did not seem aware of our reservation. He appeared unhappy that we arrived at 7.30 pm, possibly because they close at 9.00 pm, which made us feel unwelcome from the start. We ordered the Mexi grilled corn, kids eat slab, beef Mexican quesadilla, beef fajita, chicken combo, Mexi burritos and Mexi fish and chips. (some photos are attached) Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing and nowhere close to authentic Mexican flavours. Several other reviews have already explained similar concerns, and our experience was consistent with those comments. We also wanted to order jalapeno poppers and mango slushies, but we were told quite rudely that they are not prepared on weekends. The response felt dismissive rather than apologetic or helpful. The only positive aspect of the restaurant was the decor, which was vibrant and appealing. However, that was not enough to make up for the overall experience. Sadly, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

2 /5 Lucy Goss: I am hoping my experience was the result of an ‘off’ day given the number of 1 star reviews which have popped up together in the last few hours. First thing I would say is that the food is cheap. So, if that is all that matters to you, then this place is probably still worth a shot. My experience: We ordered takeaway and had to wait for 40mins at the restaurant after arriving at the specified pick up time. Chips were soggy and lukewarm, and the rice in the fajita salad went cold by the time it was served. The tacos tasted ok but were also lukewarm, and were not very dense with ingredients.

1 /5 Tabish Mian: I hate leaving 1 star reviews but I absolutely have to for this place. The wait for the food was a lot, like around 45mins- and they werent even that busy. The taste was also just terrible. The beans were ok... the rice was obviously microwave rice. The taco was the saddest taco Ive had in my life. Hardly any beef, and they fill the bottom of the taco with lettuce so that it looks full. The enchilada was hard to even cut, way overcooked. I also got the Mexican punch, which is literally just raspberry cordial...the portion sizes were also terrible. For spending $22 for a meal, youd expect the plate to be full, but we all only got half a plate each. You couldnt pay me to come back here. The atmosphere was also ruined by other unhappy customers & delivery drivers, where they had obviously been waiting longer than us for an uber order...the only thing we liked about this place was Jarritos, and thats just because they didnt make it. The lady who served us at least had nice customer service...

5 /5 Harleen: been there for the first time and the vibe of restuarant was really good. had nachos and quesadillas for takeaway and it really did meet my expectations. food was so delicious, fresh and more than enough for two of us with ample amount of sides. will definitely have a dine in next time with family✨

1 /5 Sue william: 4x serves of Taquitos and 2x Mexican rice all tiny. An absolute disappointment for what it was advertised on DoorDash for $54 value looked more like $20 value for the whole lot. The food didn’t match the pictures provided by them on DoorDash. They are really misleading and after receiving the food when we called them they showed no apology, acted indifferent and showed zero customer service. After feeling disappointed with outcome I did mention to them that I would leave an honest review about this experience, to which they responded “that’s fine”. I contacted DoorDash later with pictures and luckily they agreed with me that food didnt look like photos, food items all smaller than the pictures and no meat/protein can be seen in pictures and offered me full money back refund. I suppose just goes to show how rude a business can be and how careless they are towards people’s time and money. Pictures are attached of what was received at $54 (17 for each serve of Taquitos which consists of two, and we got 8) and each rice $10 all per prices on DoorDash. Further response to the owner, I deleted my review just so I can repost with pictures. Also a picture says a thousand words, so you can see the quality of food from this shop. Also the owners response, so aggressive and unprofessional… do you want to dine here? I don’t trust these guys to make my food. Also nice job trying to make honest customers sound like crazies, but I did just tell you calmly that I will leave a review about my experience and you also replied very carelessly sure go ahead… well I just did so why get so worked up about it :)
