1 /5 Katie Goldberg: My visit to the Russian (international) Rasputin restaurant in Melbourne was shocking, and I feel compelled to express my profound dissatisfaction. Despite the seemingly positive note of an abundance of food (most of which was really nice) the abysmal customer service provided has overshadowed all that. What happened, will you ask? When my husband and I decided to leave early, and the owner refused to let us just pay for ourselves. This simple request escalated into him being very rude to us for no reason whatsoever, and to add insult to injury, while my husband left to retrieve his credit card to finally be able to pay for us and leave, the owner was aggressively shaking his hands in front of my face when I was just standing at the bar waiting.
I am appalled by this display of utter disrespect and lack of professionalism. Its inconceivable that such behavior is tolerated in a dining establishment. The owners archaic USSR era mentality and complete disregard for customer satisfaction make me question why this restaurant is operating in a customer service space. This is not just bad service; its a disgrace.
To anyone considering dining at this establishment, beware: the food may be plentiful, but the owners conduct overshadows any culinary merits. Save yourself the anguish and choose a place where customers are treated with the dignity they deserve. I, for one, will never subject myself to such a degrading experience again (and almost forgot, the music is WAY TOO LOUD).
