3 /5 Xavstone: Came here for dinner on New Year’s Eve and was overall fairly happy with the food. I ordered the seafood platter for one and was pleasantly impressed. The seafood tasted fresh and, for a waterfront location, was reasonably priced. The platter included oysters, scallops, a small portion of lobster, prawns, and fish and chips.
However, the venue itself felt noticeably dated, which detracted from the overall experience. The interior old and did not match the quality of the food, making the space feel tired and in need of an update. The chips were a little soggy and the salad wasn’t dressed, but these were relatively minor issues compared to the venue.
As expected on a busy night like New Year’s Eve, the food took some time to arrive, which was understandable. Overall, the staff and food were great, but the outdated venue made the experience less enjoyable. I would still recommend this place for a casual seafood dinner, though the setting could benefit greatly from renovation or modernisation.
