The Railway Hotel- Windsor - Food VIC

4 /5 Ashlee Jayde: I visited The Railway Hotel in Windsor for a big meet up with friends in June 2024. It’s super easy to get to, with Windsor Station right next door and trams running up and down Chapel Street stopping nearby. Parking is available near Windsor Station, but it can be a bit scarce on a busy night, so I’d recommend using public transport, especially if you’re planning on having a few drinks and making a night of it! The venue’s upstairs space is accessible through an entrance beside the bottle shop, leading to a fantastic outdoor smokers’ area. It’s a really cool spot, complete with greenery, easy access to toilets, a heater, and plenty of seating and benches perfect for catching up. Heading indoors, there’s a cosy lounge area with plenty of chairs, tables, and couches spread across several inviting nooks. The long bar was stocked with all kinds of drinks, and my friends were especially impressed by the cocktail selection. Even though the space was a bit packed at times as we had a group of around 40–50 people, I loved how many different areas there were for people to gather and chat. We spent from around 7pm until midnight here, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The background music was at a great volume, enough to keep things lively without being overpowering. The staff were super friendly and very hospitable, which made the night even better. Although I didn’t get a chance to try the food this time, I’ve heard the menu is fantastic, and I’d definitely love to come back for dinner. Given the size and versatility of the venue, I’d also recommend it as a great spot to book for events, big group catch ups, or casual get togethers. I’d like to experience the food before giving it a higher rating, but overall, it’s a brilliant place to spend an evening in Windsor.

5 /5 Stew Hanna: Dropped in for a drink while the car was charging across the road Happy hour meant a schooner and a sparkling was only $14 Menu looked good, liked the look of the Sunday roast at $25 so will be back UPDATE Went back for the steak night, $25 for a choice of Tassie wagyu rump or porterhouse, both very tasty, nice portion size, great service too. Will be back

5 /5 Tiarni Cyrenne: We wandered in off Chapel on Sunday and god were glad we did. Not only was the service super friendly and speedy everything from the margaritas to the food was delicious. While all the food was good the chicken tenders were a standout (super juicy) and the charred broccoli sealed the deal.. well be back for more. The dual outdoor space and overall vibes make this place the perfect spot for a late-afternoon lunch and drink with friends. If I knew it was going to be so good I would of taken more photos pre-bite... sorry!

1 /5 Bwucey Bwarn: Place is pathetic. I went to Melbourne on business from 3+ hrs away. My work had a massive delays so I didnt get free until near 11 pm - 7 hrs over expected finish. I decided to get take-away booze for 5 of us. Found this open bottleshop on Google so I took 40 min trip. The bottlo had 2 bouncers on the door & only way in is for them to scan photo ID - drivers licence or passport & no other type. My licence was revoked on medical grounds over 10 yrs previous & I definitely wouldnt carry my passport with me. I have a "proof of age" card issued by the licencing authority+ VicRoads. Im a grey haired 66 yo but I was still refused entry. I dont want the likes of doorman recording any official ID as that info may get abused & cause frauds with those details. The doormen were extremely rude & nasty the way I was spoken to. Violence was threatened if I didnt leave immediately from the shopfront footpath. They even had a roped lane of the footpath where the bouncer:a forced potential customers to wait a bi even though the bottlo wasnt busy. I had never heard of something as stupid as this before. Im guessing the delay was to screen people like a nightclub just so you could go in the bottlo for a few minutes. I was respectful & polite, in a business suit & hadnt had anything to drink. I got the abuse for asking why photo ID & why my official ID wasnt acceptable. I got it for some poker machine venues & they accept it. I wouldnt spend my money at such a fascicle venue anyway. They dont deserve anyones custom doing this crap. Stay away unless you are keen to see this bizarre attempt at having some exclusive elitist bottleshop. I wish I took photos to include here.

5 /5 Simon Lee: This really is an incredible place to call in at. Exceptionally friendly team, great selection of drinks and a really chilled rooftop dining area. But the best thing for me was the steak. I’m incredibly hard to please on this front. It’s usually either the quality or the fact that a place can’t understand the definition of “rare” that leads me to stay away from steak when out. Here: It really was the definition of perfect. Melt-in-the-mouth and cooked to perfection. At the full price, it’s a bargain, but at the steak night pricing, it’s probably the best deal in the state! Will definitely be returning here.
