Bellair Street Mosaics - VIC

Adam G Bellair Street mosaics is a beautiful and colourful set of 12 circular mosaics located in the pavement of Bellair Street, Kensington. Each mosaic represents a different local theme including architecture and landmarks, Indigenous people, Flemington Racetrack, wartime in Kensington, Newmarket saleyards, the gold rush, Maribyrnong River, local flora, fauna and the future. The mosaics were the result of a 1996 community art project undertaken as part of a Jobskills program, and led by artists Helen Bodycomb and Paul Robinson. Youll find these on the pavement of Belair Street, Kensington, directly opposite the west side of Kensington train station.

Snapped the shot while trying not to fall over staring straight up... definitely looked like a total tourist. Make sure you head into the museum and learn the history! Worth it!
