The Public Purse - VIC

Adam G The Public Purse is a sculpture, a large piece of public/pop art, located on the pavement, on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth Streets in front of H&M at the Melbourne GPO. This is a busy corner in the heart of Melbournes Bourke Street Mall shopping district and its for this reason that to me the purse symbolises shopping and perhaps that some lady dropped her purse. The purse is so large that you just cannot miss seeing it when walking past or going past on a tram. For newcomers to the city, it intrigues and they have to take photos of it and touch it. Many just sit and rest on it. Also, very much like the "Under the clocks" (on the steps of Flinders Street Railway Station) or the Melbourne Central Clock, the purse is often used as a meeting point, "Ill meet you at the purse". "The Public Purse" was created by sculptor Simon Perry and installed on this busy shopping corner in 1994. Its made out of Calca red granite and stainless steel, and is in the shape of a coin purse. Its a very unique and distinctive work of art. Love it!!! It doesnt open but rumour has it that when Perry made the purse he slipped a time capsule and a real coin purse with a few coins inside it.

Manuel Andres Martinez Muñoz Great place to know about the Australian achievements, it is regularly change this week (11 Sep 2019) was about women among with other permanent expositions. If you are a medical student of a medical graduate is a must see and also is inside a nice medical and biological sciences library with a great disposition of books for anyone to read, not only Melbourne university students.

Studio Park Reserve - VIC

Chaz A great space where people could appreciate contemporary art in a natural setting. The park covers 16 hectares of landscaped gardens and natural bushland and features over 100 sculptures made from a variety of materials. One of the best things about this place is that its very family-friendly. The park is big enough to walk around without exhausting the kids, and there are sculptures that children can climb and crawl into. The park also offers interactive activities for both kids and adults. The gallery space hosts a diverse range of exhibitions, including paintings, photography, and installations. The knowledgeable guides offer tours and educational programs, and the cafe is a great spot to grab a bite to eat or something to drink. Overall, the Park and Gallery is an inspiring and unique destination that combines the beauty of nature with the creativity of contemporary art. Its a great place to spend a day with the family and appreciate the stunning artworks in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Cruden Farm - VIC

Susan Sammut We took a picnic basket and ate on the tables provided before the actual entry. This made it so easy and accessible from the car park to the picnic area. The estate itself just shines in all its glory! Such a delight to walk amongst the different areas of this stunning farm! There are many seats in all areas to just sit and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of this haven. Highlights of the property include The family home itself along with the grass tennis court, the pool area, the stables (made of stone from a local quarry), the Picking garden filled with a vast variety of roses and the serene lake area where many ducks wander. The driveway of over 100 Lemon Eucalyptus trees is picturesque and evidence of the thought and planning that has gone into this estate by Lady Murdoch and her expert horticulturists!
