Camberwell Sunday Market - VIC

bobyohya A charming Sunday market full of surprises! This vibrant outdoor market is a great way to spend your weekend. You’ll find more than just secondhand clothes — there are flower bouquets, potted plants, and even cozy coffee trucks serving up great brews. Right next door is another indoor market, and the surrounding area is dotted with cafés, making it a lovely spot to hang out and explore. Many vendors offer clothing at clearance prices, and you can pay by card or cash. Just keep in mind: it closes quite early — around 11:30 AM, they begin making closing announcements and stalls start packing up. Tip: Arrive early to enjoy the full experience and to secure a parking spot — it gets busy quickly! Highly recommend for anyone who loves vintage finds and local vibes.

THE SQUARE - VIC

Callum Paul Did a quick lap of The Square, almost felt as though it had its own sort of consciousness. Lovely spot, great sounds of the motorcross bikes floating across from the track too.

Benjamin Clay Iconic park. Not many around this area that suit both kids and adults alike. Toilet was diabolical though. Think someone was living in there.

Hochgurtel Fountain - VIC

Adam G Designed by sculptor John Hochgurtel, the historic (Josef) Hochgurtel Fountain, also known as the Exhibition Fountain was commissioned in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition in 1880–81. Standing at ten metres tall, on the south side of the Royal Exhibition Building, outside the Great Hall, the colossal fountain has characteristics of Victorian-era architecture. The base of the fountain is a large circular pool and on a rockey island rising up from the water in the centre of the pool are four fish-tailed merpeople, both male and female, naked children, and goannas, platypus and ferns. With arms stretched above them, the four merpeople are holding up a large dish. At the centre of this dish stand four naked youthful figures dancing about a central column and with arms joined together representing a young and vibrant colony that Victoria was at the time. Above them is a smaller dish and symbolising the objective of world fairs, the underside of this dish features symbols of the arts, industry, commerce and science; for example, musical instruments, a steam engine, sailing ship, telescope, surveying implements and a globe of the world. At the next level is yet a smaller disk the underside of which is adorned with images of Victorias indigenous flora and fauna. A naked boy stands in the centre of this top dish holding a clamshell above his head. The whole structure is beautifully enhanced by atmospheric sprays of crystal clear water which shoot out from the fountain. The historic Hochgurtel Fountain is the largest and most elaborate fountain in Australia. Its a real treasure and one of the landmark features of the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne, and a centrepiece in front of the south facade of the Royal Exhibition Building. While the fountain itself makes a grand overall impression, I also love the smaller details.

Royal Exhibition Building - VIC

Ashlee Pond This beautiful old building is such a stunning site. It looks extra majestic in the lovely Carlton Gardens, and the Dome Tour you can do through the Melbourne Museum is absolutely wonderful, providing a lot of detailed history and some really unique and incredible views. Ive been to a lot of events here - from uni exams and graduations, to the flower and garden show, to vegan festivals and art shows, and every single time I visit Im just blown away by how beautiful this architecture is. I wish that there were more places like this as lovingly preserved in Melbourne.

The University of Melbourne The System Garden - VIC

Renae Paradise I walk through here on my way to classes and it relaxes me no matter what the season. Tranquil yet structured it offers a variety of perspectives that create unique and contrasting garden views. I particularly enjoy noticing the growth of the young Wollemai Pine tree and walking through the central structure whooping to hear the echo. There are also many birds hovering about!
