Excelsior Hotel - Food VIC

2 /5 Philippa: Bistro - we arrived in the bistro about 5:30. There were no guests in the Bistro at that time. The wait staff were friendly and I can’t complain about them. However, we placed our order about 10 minutes later. Fish & Chips, Chicken burger and Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The food arrived quickly, however it was very bland in flavour. My daughter ordered the drinks at 5:39, separately while at the table on the app. The beer and the sparkling water came out just before the meal. It would have been nice if the sparkling had come with a glass with some ice and a slice of lemon or lime. However, it came with a straw that is too short for the bottle. My daughter also ordered a cocktail for herself, it took almost 30 minutes to get to the table and arrived just as my daughter was finishing her food. I watched the hospitality staff and they were flat out. They did not stop bring food out to the tables, so I don’t blame them. I would suggest you need to hire more casual staff, particularly during the summer season when we have some very warm nights and families choose not to cook.

4 /5 Joe Drago: A good place to dine with the family. Friendly atmosphere with helpful staff. Makes the experience enjoyable when the staff assist where possible. Well done and thank you. Meals of good quality and size. Bought the classic steak sandwich and cheeseburger. Meat in both were bland. Please season your meats before serving.

5 /5 Jackson Djurovic: This has been my local for a few years now and i wouldnt wanna look for another. The atmosphere is great, relatively quiet with the same few faces generally around. Its the staff that really make the place though. From the bubbly receptionist who answers the phones to the amazing chef in the kitchen. The real cherry on top though is the bartender betty! This woman is a swiss army knife, a truly beaufiful soul and one of the best damn bartenders ive ever seen. If this place was a dump, id still keep coming back just for her

1 /5 Adrien Saliba: I have been a customer at the excelsior for over 20 years. A lot of great patrons make for a great place for a meal or drink on weekends. Of late the emphasis on bistro and pokies improvement has outweighed the sports bar punting area. Often too warm in summer and too cold in winter if you spend time in the sports bar. A recent correction price range for menu items was appreciated. Often under staffed in the sports bar, Betty is a great worker always willing to help and serve, often under the pressure of doing work of 2 workers. Not sure where the sports bar would be without her, especially since John who worked the tab has left. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make a great pub. So patrons voices are always important and should be respected. Adrien

5 /5 Shane Calthorpe: Have been coming to the Excelsior for more than 20 years. It is a clean and tidy pub with good value, tasty meals and plenty of televisions to watch sports of all sorts. Whilst there have been changes from the time to time, some good (renovations always on point) and some not so (the diminishing TAB footprint), there has been one constant that makes the place great, that is Betty. Betty always has a welcoming smile, provides great service when ordering a drink or some food and no one runs the Punters Club competition better than her. It is the people that make a place great, thanks Betty.
