Golden Child Cafe - VIC

Jeremy Kemp Golden Child Café served one of the best long blacks I’ve had—rich crema, beautifully balanced flavours, served with a small glass of carbonated mineral water to refresh the tastebuds. (It was my first one for 2025) Jack and his team were warm and welcoming, and the vibe was spot on. My only disappointment? They still can’t control the weather (drizzling & cool) but that’s Melbourne for you. Otherwise, absolutely fantastic! ☕️ P.S If you ask nicely they’ll put a slice of lemon in your water.

Chen Yuen - VIC

Clement Clement Dined in last night and the food and service was a standout. The king prawn, Chinese mushroom and vegetable dish outstanding. Lemon chicken perfect. Fried rice which had bean shoots was yum Sesame prawn and dim sum starters were also delectable. The ambiance was set with the interior as your true 1960s Chinese restaurant with laminate tables and lanterns. The food was better than our local Chois in Hawthorn. We will be back.

SpudBAR Ashburton - VIC

Jay Weeraratne Absolutely loved our visit to Spudbar! Cherry provided fantastic service - she was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and had our order sorted quickly with a genuine smile. The food was spot on as always, but it’s the quality of service like Cherry’s that keeps us coming back. Thanks for a great experience!

The Corner Deli - VIC

Luke I’m a bit miffed with the negative reviews about the Corner Deli. Ive always had a lively experience here & it’s my go to for my weekly bread. The produce on offer is excellent and the staff (though quirky at times) have always been polite and helpful. Sure there may be cheaper places where you could go, but I’m happy to pay a little bit more for quality and to support a small local business. You’re appreciate Corner Deli & a vital part of the Ashburton strip

Cafe Carpenter - VIC

Han Yu Tan We went to this nice cozy spot to try some japanese food, and it’s really great. We got the salt and pepper chicken for $14 which was really juicy, nice crispy skin, and comes really hot. Flavours while simple, are really good. The pork okonomiyaki for $20 was really good as well. The sauces are amazing, all the ingredients in there go well together, it’s not too mushy and has some nice integrity to it. The pork belly gives it a nice meaty addition. I got the katsu curry for $24 which was decent. The pork was nice, well cooked, but it’s not very seasoned. But it’s understandable as the curry itself was tasty. It’s got a hint of spiciness to it, nice texture, very smooth but not watery. And really tasty. Overall it’s a very nice, small, cozy place. Food here is delicious, pretty standard pricing. I do highly recommend the okonomiyaki.

Little Chloe Café - VIC

Parvathy Sujeev I visited for brunch on Sunday, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was fantastic, with both indoor and outdoor seating options, making it perfect for any weather. The staff were incredibly friendly and quick to serve us, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The menu was impressive. There was something for everyone, including options for kids and even your fur babies. I tried the French toast with mango sorbet and the Sambal prawns folded eggs, along with coffee and a smoothie. The taste was outstanding. The French toast was a treat for the eyes with the vibrant colors of the fruits. The mango sorbet provided the perfect blend with everything on the plate. The Sambal prawns had a mild tangy, sweet, chili flavor, which brought back memories of Southeast Asia. The portion sizes were absolutely worth the money. Great quality food at affordable prices. Truly a rare find! Parking was easy during my visit, though I can imagine it might get a little tricky during peak hours. Overall, this café is a must-visit spot in Malvern for a relaxed and delicious getaway. Highly recommended.
