5 /5 Stephanie Rose: Kefta Slaps is a 100% halal food truck located in a little food truck area at 12 Walters Street in Craigieburn.
Kefta is minced meat (usually beef or lamb, they use lamb) which is seasoned with a blend of spices, formed into kebabs, meatballs or patties. Here, they spread it all over a pita, cook it over a flaming charcoal grill, fill it with ingredients and roll it into a wrap.
✔️ O.G Slap - unlike the rest, this one is made with Saaj bread! It’s cooked, packed with a special onion and spice mix and tahini, before going back on the grill to crisp up further. It has a strong pickled/vinegar flavour. You can taste the meat the most in this one as there are less ingredients!
✔️ Mediterranean Slap - all the flavours of a souvlaki, without the heaviness! Salads, tzatziki and yes - chips!
⭐️ Burger Slap - our favourite, tastes just like a burger, so delicious!
✔️ Chips - they are well seasoned and stay crispy!
✔️Dessert Cups - essentially a trifle, filled with sponge cake, cream, custard and fruit with different sauces. The Biscoff one was unreal, Pistachio wasnt sweet enough for us, we wish we got the Bueno instead!
✔️ Mocktails - we loved the Mountain Dew Passionfruit and the Sprite Berry Blast. Sweet, but satisfying.
The “slaps” range from $16-18 and we thought everything we had was really delicious! I think this is a real gem find. A few other food trucks around with some cultural eats which is great to see. Theres outdoor and indoor seating too if you’re concerned about the weather!
