King’s Dumpling Kitchen - Food VIC

3 /5 Debi Slinger: Very average and a little gluey. But it is a food court that turns over a lot of food. But heck, I’ve had some great meals here, alas not this one. Dumplings were okay and a good size but a little soggy and believe me, my daughter is a dumpling aficionado. The plate of rice, beef in black bean sauce and honey chicken- blah. Chicken had too much batter and a little dry, the beef was tasteless and had a little fishy taste (I can’t eat seafood). Rice was okay. A disappointing lunch but I never give up hope for improvement. Saving grace were the staff who were helpful and efficient. Note: toilets nearby. Takeaway available, disabled friendly. Seating nearby. Good parking at Doncaster - I prefer the rooftop as there is always plenty of parking.

4 /5 Michael Ashford: Really delicious apart from the carrot which tasted stale also waiting 17 minutes for my dish (wasn’t that busy there either at the time). Reasonably priced, Service was pretty average I was lining up, then a family walked in front of me and the server, served them instead of me. I’m glad though because I went to a different area and was served by this really nice guy but he said it was his first day there. He was covering or something i don’t know.

2 /5 Conrad Spendlove: Thought Id try the bain-marie offerings: Scallion pancake - contained no scallions, cold and chewy, should be soft and flaky. Sweet and sour pork - cold, very chewy batter, no sour, only sweet, pork had little flavour Eggplant dish - ok (the only reason this is a 2-star, not 1-star review) Price - too high for poor quality food. I respect that foodcourt food is high volume, but it should at least taste good and be priced reasonably

1 /5 Stephen Taylor: Firstly and most importantly you cannot serve food that is cold - there is absolutely no excuse I doubt the serving sizes - i paid for a large and there was all up around 10 pieces of honey chicken - filling up about half the available space - some of the honey chicken pieces were very doughie - with more batter than chicken. The staff seemed to want a sale - imposing themselves quite abruptly when trying to decide what I wanted. The second spring roll was not edible. The beef and black bean was light on meat but very heavy on large pieces of cauliflower. Very disappointing really because I am sure I have had nice food - that has been hot - previously but after this experience I definitely wont be spending any more money at the Kings Dumpling. Maybe Google should allow people to rate places as a 0 because this food got very close. Reading other reviews I also became aware of their very questionable charges they apply - should be in full vision when ordering
