5 /5 Adrian Salamone: This evening I dined in alone at the new Marmont bar restaurant at Crown Casino, When I first walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff who showed me to my table with great enthusiasm and passion
Where I sat was directly under the sun, and the staff could see that it was starting to affect other customers so they pulled the blinds down to make our experience more comfortable, which they didn’t have to do but was very nice to do so
My friendly waitress showed me the menu explained a few few things and gave me some time to check out the lovely Californian inspired Mexican menu And you know it’s a good menu when choosing what to eat is a challenge which is exactly what I had tonight
I wasn’t drinking alcohol, but tonight I had a mocktail Which was called less pep more talk which was passionate fruit based with salted rim with a hint tajin and lime which added a great balance
As for the food, I started off with the Baja taco, which was amazing and the fish was incredibly fresh. The batter had a light crisp to it and cooked perfectly. Then I tried the Bay bug roll, which was also amazing and had a great debt for flour with the old bay seasoning
When I had some char grilled prawns, which I would assume was cooked in a chili butter over the char grill with serve of Lemon on the side Again, the prawns were incredibly fresh and delicious
The waiter recommended that I would try the cornbread with peach butter. He said the flavors together go so well and he was right. It was also very light for a cornbread and the peach butter had a great fruitiness and slight sweetness Whilst still being savory And with that I had a side of char grilled broccolini, which was also delicious
I still managed to have some room for desert, so I ordered the lemon posset which to be honest was a great way to finish a meal as it was quite light and citrusy and also refreshing. The Sable added a nice texture and crunch and the ice cream was packed full of vanilla and amazing.
I really had a good experience at Marmont bar The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and on a busy night I can see the vibe going crazy with lots of seating and lots of outdoor dining on a nice day or evening
I can definitely see myself going back as the waiter told me next time to try The Butcher’s cut
