Amilliah Saké Restaurant & Bar near Hamer Hall in Southbank is a lovely choice if you’re after refined Japanese cuisine in a quieter part of the city that’s perfect for a pre or post theatre meal or special night out. The restaurant has a calm, stylish ambience just down from the theatre precinct and close to the river, which makes it ideal for a relaxed dinner before a show. I went for dinner and enjoyed several tasty dishes and thoughtful small bites, the flavours were nice, and the menu blends modern and classic Japanese ingredients very well. It is on the pricier side, and portions lean toward small bite style rather than generous mains, so this feels more like a place to savour a few courses than fill up on one large plate. Drinks and cocktails are also premium priced, but the extensive drink list, including sake, cocktails and wine, paired well with the food. The beef tartare was nice with the raw egg in the middle. One really nice touch is that you can pay separately after your meal, which is helpful if you’re dining with a group and want individual bills.

There’s a new menu and everything was absolutely delicious! The service was the perfect combination of attentive yet unrushed, and really friendly too! Such a great dinner. Christian DUMANGENG Vicky was one of the best server I have encountered. She first asked if everything was fine with our food and we responded yes but half way through my steak i had to ask her if they can do pan fry instead of grilled as mine was a bit charred resulting to bitterly taste. Maybe not my style for steak but the way she handled my request and how the restaurant took the food and replaced with a new one was commendable. Indeed they made sure the customer is happy with their food. Mind you the sauce on the steak was one of the most flavourful I got. Thank you for the great service!

Judah Ayling Cervo is a beautiful restaurant and has quickly become our favourite place to eat in the city. The setting is fantastic, with the option to dine indoors or outdoors. The last three times we’ve visited over the past couple of months we’ve chosen to sit outside, which is incredibly relaxing by the Yarra. Every meal we’ve had has been exceptional, with great flavours and presentation each time. The wait staff are brilliant—friendly, attentive and professional, which really adds to the experience. If you’re looking for a relaxed, high-quality place to eat in the city, Cervo is definitely worth visiting.

The pasta with the ricoota (that was so delicious inside and fresh) with nuts, burnt butter sauce hits the spot. The fish, perfection! Soft, buttery sauce and the vegetables with it added some sweetness. The Passion fruit & white chocolate cocktail is a dessert in a glass, perfectly paired and delicious. Be careful! Its easy to drink 2-3 without knowing and its not too sweet. The steak was also amazing. Definitely have the garlic with it, its soft and not too strong. I will return for more :) - graize. The staff have an amazing working dynamic that is friendly and supportive of each other!

Molly Fantastic buffet breakfast. Great selection of hot and cold breakfast option. Friendly staff, no wait. The discounted weekday rate was a bonus. Free coffee, extra cost for barista made.

Steven Harris Great food. Good prices and the poor wait staff work their socks off… Only briefly waited because the Australian Open was on. Recommended.
