Omurice House - Food VIC

5 /5 David Gordon: After trying to get to Omurice House in Mitcham, it was well worth the wait! It took me a second glance to see it was inside to the right of the BP. (should have looked closer at reviews to see it!) I had the Japanese cream omurice with chicken katsu, and it was really good. The katsu was super fresh, perfectly crispy, and the size of the meal was great for the price. After spending a lot of time in Japan this is the closest meal I have had that reminds me of being there. The service was great too. The staff were super friendly and they made sure we were happy with everything. More people definitely need to know about this place! Fingers crossed their next store pops up closer to the northern suburbs.

5 /5 Emily Emzi: Omurice House Mitcham is an absolute hidden gem. It’s a small establishment tucked inside and next to the BP, but don’t let the location intimidate you, it is 100% worth stopping for. We ordered two Japanese curry omurice with chicken katsu, plus an entrée of edamame. To start with, this is quite possibly the best Japanese curry I’ve ever had. The katsu chicken was fresh, perfectly crispy, and the portion size was spot on for the price. The real winner was the curry itself. It was very different from curries I’ve had at other places. It was creamy, buttery, and full of flavour, perfectly complementing the chicken. The rice topped with the egg mixture was also a standout, adding great texture and richness. For the price, it was an absolute win. The service was excellent. The waiter was incredibly accommodating, had friendly chats with us, and made sure we were happy with everything on our plates. This place is definitely a hidden gem, and more people need to know about it. Highly recommend and a BIG kudos to the chef.

4 /5 Alice: Located at the corner of a BP station which is pretty cool. However it is a really small place with a big bench table that had about 10 seats which you will share if eating onsite. It was really crowded so we decided to takeaway instead. Ordering was fuss free via the machine and food arrived pretty quickly. The beef and pork katsu were both really good, so was the Japanese curry and Malaysian curry option. The letdown was the egg omelette, which is pretty thin and a little overcooked for omurice. But that could be due to having it takeaway vs eating it straight off cooking. Will visit again, hopefully theres a seat the next time!

5 /5 Dav S: One of the top Omurice in Melbourne. Hidden in the patrol station. Popular place for the local. The owner is very friendly with little one. The Mapo Tofu is very tasty with hot and numbness pepper. Recommended for spicy food lover.

4 /5 L T: Truly a hidden gem tucked away in a corner of a BP Petrol station away from the main Mitcham Shopping Village. It’s a great place to grab some lunch/dinner while topping up petrol. The portion size and price are reasonable. The chicken katsu was fried to perfection. The curry sauce (Japanese Curry and Malaysian Curry) was tasty and not spicy. The Malaysian curry came with sambal which was great. The rice blanketed with omelette are just perfect for mopping up the curry. There’s only limited seating in the shop (3 tables that accomodates 12 in total). Go try!
