5 /5 Viv: Visited Stateline brunch before and found this place to be quite a solid local spot for breakfast and lunch, with a strong Italian cuisine influence. Recently opened their Pasta Bar from Friday to Sundays and decided to give this one a go! Actually really enjoyed the range of dishes we got. The menu is not overly too big but did well in terms of focussing on a few starters, pasta mains and side dishes - can tell they care about the quality of each dish rather than going for serving absolutely everything. We ordered: - garlic focaccias with antipasto - polpette ai sugo - spaghetti carbonara - eggplant parmagiana - squid ink pasta w/ prawns - caprese salad (with burrata) - rocket, pear & rocket salad - tiramisu apart from the carbonara which is naturally on the salty side, everything else I really enjoyed! highly recommend the squid ink pasta and eggplant parmagiana for mains, and the caprese salad is a must for the side - very refreshing and complimented the pastas really well!

5 /5 Mel B: BRUNCH Spot turned Pasta Bar - pasta menu is as authentic and good quality as their brunch menu. homemade garlic herb focaccia + burrata and antipasti 4.25/5 - squid ink spaghetti gambereti 4.25/5 - melanzane parmigiana 4.5/5 - carbonara fettucini guanciale 4/5 - homemade gnocchi with housemade pesto (+ burrata) 3.5/5 - polpette ai sugo (slow-cooked meatballs) 3/5 a bit too overdone, but sauce was fab - house baked garlic herb focaccia 4.75/5 (find them at brunch time too) - broccolini with macadamia cream 2/5 Squid ink pasta, carbonara and melanzane equally loved, but the best personally was the melanzane due to the use of eggplants giving the dish a rounded and well balanced flavour profile. Carbonara a bit too salty. Pasta al dente. Gnocchi was super soft but homemade pesto fell a bit weak in punch and aroma. Tiramisu good but personally a bit too sweet but the other family members licked that plate easily. Would love to go back or even take away for its convenience of home cooked meals, gotta love Chris’ hard work and passion.

4 /5 Regaleatsmelb: Thinking I had heard about and seen all the cafes nearby to Highpoint, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out about this cafe hidden in plain sight in the Coles carpark on Military Rd in Avondale Heights. Under new management, this Sicilian-inspired menu includes all things traditional from olives in the caponata baked eggs to the peas in the lasagne Im yet to try (but have heard only good things). The pulled pork Benny was stacked and was extremely tasty even if Im not usually one for hollandaise sauce. And the Bobby bruschetta was as perfectly balanced as it was pretty. Loving the schiacciata craze at the moment, I had to try a panino and the chicken cotoletta did not disappoint! No needing a bread knife for this baby, hitting all the right notes it was molto buono e assolutamente da provare! I really liked the vibe of this place, watching people feeling comfortable to stay past eating to just enjoy. And with plenty of car parking and served with plenty of smiles, it is definitely worth a visit, if not for the eggs but the freshly made Nutella bombolini!!
