Leeor Meirovitz I took a friend to SOWL for their birthday, and we had a great experience. The restaurant itself strikes a perfect balance—it looks classy and very nice without feeling posh or stuffy. We started with the pickles, bread, and the taramasalata, which were all absolutely incredible and fresh. The bread looks like a piece of art, and the taramasalata was wonderfully refreshing and fluffy. The only dish that missed the mark was the tuna crudo; the fish just didnt shine and the flavours were a mess. For our main course, we shared the “Lamb of Gods,” the goat curd ravioli, and the cauliflower gratin. The lamb was a clear highlight—flavorful, perfectly slow-cooked, and a generous portion for two. The ravioli was really tasty, offering a unique and balanced taste. (A quick tip: its a smaller dish, so dont order it as a standalone main unless you have a bunch of other food). The cauliflower gratin was another very nice and tasty side. We finished with the espresso martini tiramisu. It was very tasty (and sweet!), though it was served in a tall glass, which was a bit awkward to share. Finished the meal absolutely full. What really stood out, however, was the service. The team was ultra-attentive, our water was never empty, and everyone had genuine smiles. You could feel they were doing everything possible to create a good experience. I’d definitely come back again with friends.

S Really lovely place. The crepes are absolutely delicious and fresh. There’s so many different options to have in both savoury and sweet, so there’s no way you can’t find something you like! Coffee is also very well made. The service is really good. They’re very attentive and quick. The atmosphere is lovely with the French music in the background and the big open space with the window. I will definitely be back to try more flavour options but I really recommend the La Gourmande - delicious with the fresh fruit and ice cream!

karina Huang A truly elegant Thai brunch experience in Carnegie! BKK in Carnegie is an absolute gem for those seeking a refined and modern take on Thai cuisine. The interior is beautifully designed with a minimalist, gallery-like aesthetic—perfect for a leisurely brunch or a special catch-up with friends. The Tom Yum Lobster Pasta was a highlight—succulent lobster tail paired with tangy, aromatic tom yum sauce and finished with popping fish roe. The Crispy Pork Congee was equally impressive, with silky rice porridge and perfectly crackled pork belly, accompanied by delightful Chinese-style doughnuts. Don’t miss their show-stopping Mango Soufflé—it’s incredibly light, fluffy, and served with coconut ice cream and sticky rice. The Soft Shell Crab Roll was fresh and crispy, and the Matcha Tiramisu with cream cap was a lovely, not-too-sweet twist on the classic. Service was attentive, and every dish felt thoughtfully presented. A bit on the pricier side, but well worth it for the quality and experience. Highly recommended for a stylish and satisfying brunch!

kalina bogdanova The fish pickled cabbage soup was absolutely mind-blowing - explosion of taste and spice that leaves you longing for more. The porkbelly soup was amazing too. The noodles in particular was super fresh and tasty.

Holiday li Shyun in Carnegie is honestly one of the best value Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. The sashimi quality is excellent — super fresh and beautifully prepared. Their set meals are also great value, and most importantly, everything tastes amazing. I come to this Shyun in Carnegie a few times every month — it’s seriously that good. The ingredients are always fresh, and the portions are very generous. That big bowl of seafood don is incredibly satisfying — I always leave absolutely full. For around $30–$40 per person, it’s such great value for what you get. Besides the seafood bowls, their lunch specials are fantastic too. The curry rice and curry udon are both delicious, and many lunch sets are only in the mid-teens — which is hard to beat these days. There’s also another Shyun just across the road on the same street, which focuses more on grilled dishes. Both have their own style and are equally tasty. Highly recommend!

Shai N It was a lovely brunch on a lovely day. My first favourite part was seeing all the cute feline friends while walking in. Secondly, the place was so bright and cute seating arrangement, which was cosy and comfortable cushion for support. Thirdly, the staff was nice and very happy with fast service. Diving into the food, i will admit that even though it was on the expensive side, I did enjoy the juicy lamb fry with all the veggies and spices. They seem to marry up so nicely with my palette of taste. I chose a green smoothie, and it tasted amazing in the hot weather. The flowers were just a cute touch, and overall, I left the place with yummy in my tummy full! The place has ample parking space and both indoor and outdoor seating. So, grab your furry friend and enjoy the food.

Melpo_meni Can’t believe I waited so long to try this place. Was craving cold noodles (naengmyeon) and this hit the spot! Some of the best side dishes I’ve ever had - very tasty and generous. The cold noodles were very light, refreshing and satisfying. 감사합니다, I will be back!

Suzie C On New Year’s Eve, we didn’t feel like cooking, so our family went out to find somewhere nearby to eat. We noticed Paradai Thai Carnegie had available tables, so we decided to give it a try — and it turned out to be a great choice. The food tasted very good and the restaurant was clean and pleasant. When we arrived, there were still seats available, probably because we went early, but once it got closer to dinner time, the place filled up very quickly. Overall, the prices were reasonable and the food was enjoyable. We would definitely come back again.
