Cactus Country - VIC

claudia ferreira We enjoyed our visit here. The restaurant makes it awesome, the food was so good. Pulled pork nachos, cactus cake and cactus ice cream. The gardens are also nice to wonder around, very dry since its like a dessert vibe :) We stayed in the area and made a weekend of it, its too far and not worth a day trip only from Melbourne. Highly recommend staying over to make it worth the far drive.

Craiglee Vineyard - VIC

Liam Furlong I opened a 40 yo Hermitage for my 40th a couple of weeks ago, it was amazing. Craiglee make wines that can age, really age, and I count myself fortunate to have had my special day brightened with that drop. Now for the story, it would have been 7-8 years ago when I was at the cellar door and saw the 1984 Hermitage on a shelf. When tic-taced for an hour or so as to whether or not the bottle was even for sale, but upon proving that it was in fact my birth year, and telling my sob story about having not had a birth year wine (which was true until a couple of weeks ago), I was finally entrusted with the responsibility to care for that sacred drop. Thank you so much for being willing to share such a special wine with a random visitor. I now have to take all of the wines that I bought that day and move them back in my cellar a long way... 10 years was never going to be enough ;)

South Surrey Park - VIC

Mark Rocque Well maintained, lush suburban park with a sealed pathway. Perfect for kids on small bikes and scooters. Small playground for kids up to about 8. There is a drinking fountain but I couldnt spot any bathroom facilities.

Powers Lookout - VIC

Greg McEwan Great to see where Ned Kelly and Harry Powell hid out in the bush. Some steps but not overly difficult but well worth the effort - the views are stunning. Highly recommend to go down their the creek in between the farmhouse and king river camping and look up into the hill to see the lookout from ground level. (As per my pictures) The Quinn’s original homestead would have been down in that area.
