Basterfield Park - VIC

Kerbray Beautiful gardens with water features and a cross amongst the reeds in the lake. Two childrens play areas, both with a good array of equipment and features. Great for picnics and taking the dog for a walk on leash. Plenty of shaded areas and a few benches within the park. Toilet facilities are located near one of the playground areas, and its definitely one of the better parks in the area.

Hurlingham Park - VIC

Sam Keir This park made me feel as though I was in the country! So much open space, (OK sporting ovals) and near the kids playarea (yes no self respecting park is without one) is a water fountain that was obviously installed by the parks founders what with the bluestone slabs etc, so old timey - fantastic. Lots of magnificent trees and other greenery, beautiful.

Gardenvale Park - VIC

Sam Keir Ooh I love a rotunda! In fact rotundas should be mandatory in all parks, can someone please introduce this park policy. OK wishful thinking I know so go to Gardenvale Park to see one. This park has the regulation kids playarea, bench seating and assortment of trees (note I know nothing about trees and can only name a few - gum tree, elm tree and Xmas tree) but they look great, particularly the monster fallen tree trunk, very sculptural and impressive. There is also a lovely genteel old timey entrance on one side to this park. Worth a look if dont live locally, but are in area.

Moorabbin Air Museum - VIC

Toriie Jay If you love a bit of history or are fascinated by aircraft, the Moorabbin Air Museum is a must visit. There is something for everyone, with many interactive displays, this will he a fun day out for the whole family. Get up close and personal with some of the old aircraft on display, including jumping in the cockpit for that picture perfect moment. Bring a picnic or follow up with lunch at the Flight Deck Bar and Grill down the road for a full day out!

Karkarook Park - VIC

Karen Rosauer A lovely large park, with a big lake with boating, children’s playground and wetlands with many birds. Plenty of covered/shaded and unshaded picnic tables and barbecues. Clean toilets. And an off leash area for dogs. I enjoyed a walk around the lake and wetlands … a little under 2km around the lake. And another kilometer around the wetlands. An enjoyable place to spend the afternoon
