2 /5 Isaac Barr: Coffee and tea were nice and the owner seemed friendly. However overall, disappointing food. The cafe had no one else in it when we arrived at 9am on a Saturday - a red flag that turned out to be true for food. The ‘eggs your way’ came with untoasted bread, and a ‘rosti’ that turned out to be a soggy hash brown, and some cold bacon. The chilli scramble had a bolus of chilli that took our breath away and gave us hiccups, and under-toasted bread, but was otherwise tasty enough. The salmon stack was not what was advertised - no aioli, bottled dressing, and a basic leaf salad, with the ‘pancakes’ being dry, rubbery, and bland. Service was fine, not that there were many other guests, but the owner never checked if our meals were ok or else we would have shared this feedback directly.

I opted for a flat white made with their house espresso blend, and it delivered: smooth, balanced and full-flavoured. The interior is modern but comfortable, with communal tables, natural wood tones and a relaxed vibe. On the food front, their brunch menu impressed. I tried the smashed avocado classic, fresh, vibrant and just felt right. The service was friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. Whether you’re after a great coffee, a relaxed brunch or just a calm space to hang out, Platform Espresso ticks the boxes. Highly recommended for your next café stop in Melbourne. ✨

5 /5 Thomas Reeh: Great little cafe on High Street right next to Glen Iris Station. Coffee was great. Also enjoyed the Spinach and Ricotta Danish. Really tasty. Great service too.
